Winter Palace Collection
The first palace of the Russian Sovereigns, the Winter
Palace on the banks of the Neva in St. Petersburg, was
the seat of power of the Romanovs until the Revolution.
In the nineteenth century, its fabled chandeliers and
sconces dominated every room. They were Russian designs
by renowned architect-designers like Stasov and Zakharov,
and the Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna was fascinated
by artistic lighting forms. In the glass-enclosed winter
gardens, designed to create the illusion of summer in
the midst of glacial winters, there were chandeliers
and sconces of antiqued silver.
Fine Art Lamps' exquisite new lighting designs have
fine, icicle-like lead crystals and a rich silver leaf
finish that recall the elegance and originality of the
Winter Palace until the final days of the Romanov dynasty.
