During World War II, Chuck Yeager was stationed with the 363rd Fighter Squadron at RAF Leiston in the UK. He named his P-51 Mustang, a long-range single-seat fighter aircraft Glamorous Glennis or Glamorous Glen after his then girlfriend Glennis Faye Dickhouse. They were married in February 1945. In 1947 Chuck Yeager was the first pilot to travel faster than sound.
