| The W.A.C. Lighting selection of low voltage transformers
consists of electronic and magnetic versions ranging
from 60w to 1000w. WAC standard electronic transformers
feature auto reset, soft start and short circuit protection
technologies. The unique soft start feature gradually
applies voltage on cold starts to extend lamp life.
New to 2007 are three additional models of Class II
transformers, bringing much needed higher wattage Class
II units to marketplace. These models are exclusive
to W.A.C. and provide a single source to wire multiple
runs of low voltage units such as undercabinet and display
lights.
Electronic Transformers
Electronic transformers are valued for their small
size, quiet operation, and value.
Select from a Wide range of wattages offered in 12
or 24 volts. Electronic transformers use the latest
technology featuring radio disturbance suppression,
electronic short circuit protection with auto reset,
and soft start to extend lamp life.
Enclosed transformers are UL listed and are used for
remote lighting installations.
Non-enclosed transformers are listed components for
replacement of factory installed transformers.
Magnetic Transformers
Remote Magnetic Transformers are larger and generally
have greater capacities than electronic models. The
magnetic models allow for greater wiring distances from
transformer to the powered equipment.
Magnetic transformers feature "push–to
reset" circuit breakers and multi tap options to
compensate for voltage drop. Remote Magnetic Transformers
shown on this page comply with UL2108 standards for
low voltage installations.
NEW! UL 2108 STANDARDS
FOR TRANSFORMERS
Effective February 2007
The new U.L. 2108 standard devoted specifically
to low voltage lighting systems, is more specifi
c and restrictive than the previous 1598 standard.
In particular, the standard requires short circuit
and abnormal short circuit protection within the
transformer for open bus systems such as Monorail
or Quick Connect pendants.
In other words, U.L. 2108 requires that transformers
used in low voltage systems be sensitive enough
to detect a short circuit several lamps away from
the origin and prevent potential harm from heat
or fire damage.
All W.A.C. Lighting electronic and magnetic
transformers are U.L. 2108 compliant.
