About Arte de Mexico
Arte de Mexico is a North Hollywood, California workshop and importer known for hand-forged wrought iron chandeliers and lanterns, antler lighting and furniture, and imported architectural elements such as doors and gates. Its work has long gone to interior designers, set decorators and hotel and restaurant projects built in Spanish Colonial, Mediterranean, rustic and Old World styles. The company operates at a much smaller scale than it once did after liquidating the inventory in its large North Hollywood showroom, and much of what it does now is one-of-a-kind and commissioned work.
Collections
| Hand Forged Wrought Iron Lighting | The core line — chandeliers, lanterns, wall mounts, post mounts and flush mounts forged in iron in Old World and Spanish Colonial idioms. |
|---|---|
| Antler Lighting and Furniture | Chandeliers and furniture built from naturally shed antlers, made to order in large multi-light configurations. |
| Montecito Collection | An exterior-oriented group of lanterns and mounted fixtures named for the Montecito style. |
| One of a Kinds | Single pieces, samples and commissioned work that are not part of a repeating catalog line. |
| Crystal Chandeliers and Sconces | Formal fixtures using hand-cut European crystal, offered alongside the iron work for more traditional interiors. |
What you get for the money
This is luxury-tier, largely made-to-order product. Retail listings at Perigold run from roughly $477 to over $19,000, with most pieces between about $700 and $7,500, and antler chandeliers at the top of that range. What the money buys is hand-forging rather than casting, real hand-applied iron finishes, and the ability to have a piece sized and configured for a specific room; the flip side is that it is not a stock catalog and delivery is not immediate.
Where it gets used
Great rooms and entries in Spanish, Mediterranean and hacienda-style houses, ranch and mountain properties for the antler work, and restaurant, resort and winery interiors that want a hand-made rather than a mass-produced look. The line has historically been a favorite of film and television set decorators for the same reason. Exterior lanterns, post mounts and gate lighting are part of the range, so it also gets used on courtyards, motor courts and entry walls.
Specifying notes
The product list distinguishes interior and exterior ADA-compliant wall lights, post-mount and hanging exterior fixtures, so ADA and exterior versions exist — confirm the listing and rating on the specific piece rather than assuming it from the style. Because much of the work is made or finished to order, size, arm count, chain length and finish are usually variables rather than fixed specifications, and iron finishes are hand-applied so there will be variation piece to piece. Get a firm quote covering size, finish, lamping and lead time in writing before ordering.
How it compares
| Hubbardton Forge | American hand-forged iron with a published catalog, stock finishes and predictable lead times — less Old World, far easier to specify. |
|---|---|
| Troy Lighting | Hand-forged metal and hand-blown glass at a premium but non-bespoke price, with much broader dealer availability. |
| Currey & Company | Wrought iron, natural-material and antler-inspired decorative lighting through the design trade, at a lower price than commissioned work. |
| Hammerton | US-made hand-forged iron and glass with a real custom program, if the appeal is the commission rather than the Spanish Colonial vocabulary. |
Common questions about Arte de Mexico
Is Arte de Mexico good quality?
The line is hand-forged wrought iron and hand-built antler work rather than cast or stamped product, and it has been specified on hotel, restaurant and film projects for decades. Because pieces are hand-made, expect variation in finish and dimension rather than the uniformity of a mass-produced fixture.
Where can I buy Arte de Mexico lighting?
Brand Lighting is an authorized dealer and can order Arte de Mexico and ship anywhere in the United States. Send us a photo or a model number and we will confirm availability, since a large part of the range is made to order.
Is Arte de Mexico still in business?
Yes, but at a much smaller scale than in its showroom era — it liquidated the inventory in its large North Hollywood showroom and now works largely through its online store and commissioned pieces. Availability on any given item should be confirmed before you commit.
Is Arte de Mexico made in the USA?
The company works from North Hollywood, California and also imports architectural elements and components, so origin varies by piece. Ask about a specific item rather than assuming it either way.
Does Arte de Mexico have a warranty?
Warranty coverage is handled through the manufacturer and is supported when you buy from an authorized dealer such as Brand Lighting. We will confirm the terms that apply to a specific piece before you order.
How long is the lead time?
Because much of the line is made or finished to order, lead time varies significantly by piece. We confirm it with the factory at the time of quoting instead of quoting a standard number.
Quoting Arte de Mexico?
Send us the fixture schedule or the drawings and we will come back with a line-by-line price and current lead times.
