About Meyda Lighting

Meyda has been building decorative lighting in Yorkville, New York since 1974, when Meyer and Ida Cohen started making stained-glass shades. It runs a vertically integrated 180,000 square foot plant — glass cutting, soldering, metalwork and finishing all in-house — and is best known for authentic copperfoil Tiffany and bent-glass work. Buyers are homeowners restoring or furnishing period houses, plus restaurants, lodges, casinos and commercial projects that need custom fixtures at architectural scale.

Collections

Copperfoil: Tiffany and Stained GlassHand-cut, hand-soldered stained glass built by the copperfoil method — the company's signature work.
Quality Bent GlassCurved glass shades formed with century-old tools and techniques.
Craftsman Signature SeriesAmerican-made indoor and outdoor fixtures in the Arts and Crafts vocabulary.
Old Forge and RusticNature-themed fixtures with wildlife and outdoor motifs for lodge and cabin work.
AntlersFixtures handcrafted using sustainably harvested, naturally shed antlers.
Schoolhouse & RevivalReproductions of classic and historical period fixture types.
2nd AveMeyda's made-to-order customizable design program.
QuickShipOver 3,600 items held for reduced lead times — the answer when a made-to-order schedule will not work.

What you get for the money

Meyda is premium, and the price reflects genuine hand craft: individually cut and foiled glass, hand-formed metal and in-house finishing, with most of the catalogue built to order. It also runs a Crystal line and an LED / Title 24 compliant range for projects with energy-code requirements. The practical advantage over an import is customization — size, glass color, finish and mounting can be changed, and the company runs a full custom stained-glass design service.

Where it gets used

Meyda goes into period and craftsman homes, kitchen islands and dining rooms, and heavily into commercial and hospitality work — restaurants, bars, casinos, lodges, hotel lobbies and corporate spaces wanting an identifiable custom fixture. The outdoor range covers porches, patios and outdoor kitchens. The Antlers and Old Forge lines are the lodge and rustic answer; Schoolhouse & Revival covers historic renovation.

Specifying notes

Because glass is cut and foiled by hand, expect variation between fixtures and order a room's worth together. Custom and 2nd Ave orders carry longer schedules than the QuickShip program, which exists precisely for jobs that cannot wait — ask which program a given design falls under before you commit to a date. Confirm damp or wet location listing individually on anything going outdoors; the Craftsman Signature Series and the outdoor range include indoor/outdoor fixtures, but the rating is per item.

How it compares

QuoizelIts Tiffany and art-glass fixtures cover a similar look at a much lower price, imported rather than hand-built in New York.
Hubbardton ForgeThe other made-to-order US manufacturer at this tier, built around hand-forged steel rather than stained glass.
Kalco LightingHandcrafted decorative and hospitality product with its own custom contract program, at a somewhat lower price.
Fine Art Handcrafted LightingA US-made luxury alternative built in Florida; more formal and sculptural, less period and stained-glass oriented.

Common questions about Meyda Lighting

Is Meyda lighting good quality?

Meyda builds its fixtures at a vertically integrated plant in Yorkville, New York, cutting and foiling stained glass by hand. That level of craft is why it is used for custom and hospitality work and why it costs more than an imported Tiffany-style fixture.

Is Meyda made in the USA?

Yes. Meyda manufactures at its own 180,000 square foot facility in Yorkville, New York and markets its work as American artisan-crafted.

Where can I buy Meyda lighting?

Brand Lighting is an authorized dealer and can order and ship the line anywhere in the United States, including custom and 2nd Ave made-to-order pieces.

Does Meyda have a warranty?

Meyda product is covered by the manufacturer's warranty and Brand Lighting supports claims as an authorized dealer. Meyda does not publish a warranty term on the pages we could verify, so ask us to confirm coverage for the exact item before you order.

How long is the lead time on Meyda?

It depends on the program. Custom and 2nd Ave made-to-order work is scheduled per project; the QuickShip program covers over 3,600 items held for reduced lead times. Tell us the model and we will confirm which applies and get you a date.

Can Meyda make a fixture to my size and colors?

Yes — custom design is a core part of the business, including custom stained-glass panels and lighting. Send us dimensions, glass and finish direction and we will get a quote from the factory.

Quoting Meyda Lighting?

Send us the fixture schedule or the drawings and we will come back with a line-by-line price and current lead times.
